Bassenthwaite WI
The Bassenthwaite Women's Institute was founded in 1919 and is thus one of the oldest in the country. It meets in the evening of the second Thursday of every month in the Church Rooms for a varied programme which usually includes a talk or demonstration from a visiting speaker or local member. A monthly competition produces some interesting submissions and there are excursions to places of interest and occasional lunches and evening meals out. The Bassenthwaite WI is well supported but always welcomes new members. It is a friendly group where members can share news and learn of events in the locality.

Bassenthwaite Rotary Club
Our overriding approach is to enjoy ourselves - at the same time we seek to support Rotary traditions through a progressive hands-on approach, raising funds for charitable causes, working with other Rotary Clubs and organisations, involving the local community, seeking to make best use of income and contributing to both local, national and international charities.
Our meetings are held on Monday nights with either a two course meal or a cold buffet, with a number of outside activities and guest speakers during the year. Our members are from a wide variety of businesses and professions drawn from a diverse area around Bassenthwaite including the towns of Keswick and Cockermouth. Fellowship is an important part of our activities and we welcome speakers, guests, and potential new members at our meetings - come along to find out! |
