The Village Pub
In earlier times the Sun Inn was known as The Bush. Like most Cumbrian Inns it was originally a small farmstead where beer was served as a side-line. Over time it became an Ale house full time. The originally building is much altered but it retains the atmosphere of a country pub with fireplaces at both ends of the bar, with the original chimneys still in use. The inn and the two houses next to it date from at least the seventeenth century and bear signs of their original 'A' cruck construction in which the main roof ridge is supported by large timber supports reaching down to the ground.
